Replace Hard drives on Imac

Hard drives Crash even on a Mac. I know its hard to believe, but Mac’s do break too eventually. This one needed a new hard drive installed in it to bring it back to life since it was taking 15 minutes just to boot up.. thats a bad sign. Hope you have a backup. No problem. We can do that.

It is a little challenging for most amateurs to open up an Imac and do basic things like changing a hard drive or a dvd drive or Ram. Its all under the hood though. First i removed the bottom four screws, removing a metal plate. Then i had to find some special Torque Screwdriver bits to open the “special” screws and with a little more effort and some proprietary secrets, i was able to break this thing open and replace the hard drive. Then i put it all back together again. Yeah. The next part involves the customer having the correct DVD’s to install the MAC OSX operating system. Hmmm, similair to installing Windows operating system. But, before that is possible you have to figure out how to open the CDROM to start the install. After all that, you have to partition the hard drive to work with the Mac. No more free hints. Anyway, its difficulty level is about 8 out of 10 if you are not familiar with doing this type of work. We don’t do a lot of Mac work, but we have enough experience to do almost any project involving hardware and software, even a Mac.

I will be happy to help you out and probably be a lot cheaper than the Mac Store if they even do that type of work on an older model like this. Most places would just tell you to buy a new one.. You Guys Rock

Apparently, we Rock. I just had a happy customer who left with his computer say “You Guys Rock”. Well, its not a big deal really. The Geeks at BBuy told him that he would need his recovery disk to fix his computer with. He had a bad hard drive, so he bought a new one. Even though he bought some expensive ” GOLDEN SERVICE PLAN” which was still “under warranty”, he would need to provide a recovery disk. Well he did not have one or know where it was. At that point, they just could not help him without charging $299. So, he decided he wanted to upgrade to Windows 7 from the SLOW Windows Vista. That just was impossible for them to install unless they had some magic recovery disks which he did not have. If he was to go upgrade to Windows 7,it would cost $199 for the software, plus labor to install it.

Since he has done business with us many times before, we were able to get him a copy of Windows 7 64 Bit for $159 and just to show him that we could install it without Vista disks, we installed it with no problem and no extra charge. Running out of Disk Space?

I just had two jobs recently for some local attorneys servers whose hard drives had run out of space and could no longer save any more data to the server. If your server runs out of space, we can either delete, move or back up some data and move it to another drive. Another option for this client was to CLONE his old 40GB hard drive to a massive 500GB drive or bigger. One of the main reasons for this also is that the 40gb drive will eventually DIE and probably not at a good time. If this happens, you will be highly stressed out, and you will be relying on some old tape backups and we will all pray together in harmony in hopes that it will work. This is a good thing to be thinking of. If your drives are over 5 YEARS OLD, THE INEVITABLE WILL HAPPEN. YOUR DRIVES WILL DIE AT SOME POINT. Backup planning is essential. We would be happy to get you a backup system in place or CLONE your current drive to a new BIGGER hard drive.

What is Superantispyware and why is it asking for a credit card? Well it is SPYWARE. Do NOT buy it with your credit card. Its a scam. If you have an Icon on your desktop that says Super Antispyware and a message that you have several hundred virus, you do have a problem. We can fix it. We see this problem all the time. We can usually fix your computer without reloading Everything from scratch and making you reload all programs and printer software, and backing up all your data. Also, if you see something that says AV8, AV8.exe or Antivirus 8, it is a close variant of this spyware which we can fix. ONe of the Key problems is that when you go to Internet Explorer, it does not open to your homepage or go anywhere. The same is for Firefox, etc. Dont worry, we can fix it.

Another problem we see is that when you click on Internet Explorer or Firefox, a message comes up that says it cannont find Internet Explorer or Firefox, etc. or Page cannot be displayed. THis one fooled me for a while, but there is a fix for it without wiping out and reloading everything. Please call us and we can take care of these problems in record time.
